  11. Well I recently got a Sportster V.34+ for the Mac. At first I had some
  12. problems connecting to MacPPP, but I solved it. I just switched to
  13. FreePPP, & I have been connecting at 28.8. The only 2 problems I have had
  14. are on Netscape the receiving data has been slow, no faster that 800
  15. bytes/sec. Does my CPU have anything to do with this (It is an LCIII with
  16. 4 MB of Ram). Also should I use error correction, or should I just turn it
  17. off completely? Secondly, whenever anyone picks up an extension anywhere
  18. on my telephone line while my USR is on, but offline, the Auto Answer
  19. light goes on.The only way to make it go off is if I reset the modem by
  20. ATZ, turn it off, or make a phone call via the modem. I have set the S0
  21. register to 0, I also have dip switch 5 in the on position. And it still
  22. does this. I never had this problem with my Mac & Fax 14.4. Is anyone else
  23. experiencing this problem.  I have e-mailed USR but I don't expect
  24. anything from them. If you have been using the US with no prob, send me
  25. your init strings to compare mine. Well thank you all. Please E-mail me
